Road Ledger: a treasurer’s console for private road associations
Owners, cost shares, assessments, payments, reminder letters, votes and contractor bids in one place, for every volunteer treasurer who has been keeping them in a spreadsheet.

The problem
Thousands of homes sit on private roads that no government maintains. The owners share the cost of grading, snow plowing and repaving, and one of them — usually a volunteer — ends up as treasurer.
That treasurer juggles who owns which parcel, how the costs are split, who has paid, who needs a reminder, what the association voted on, and which contractor bid what. Most of it lives in a spreadsheet, a folder of letters and a lot of email.
What Road Ledger does
Road Ledger puts all of that in one place:
- Owners and cost shares — every parcel, its owner and its share of the costs.
- Assessments and payments — what each owner owes and what they have paid, with balances that stay up to date.
- Reminder letters for owners who are behind.
- Votes and contractor bids — a record of what was decided, and what each bid would cost each owner.
One site for every association
Road Ledger isn’t built for one road. Any treasurer can sign up and create their own association, and invite a co-treasurer by email. Each association gets its own page and a link to share with its owners.
Owners sign up with the email address the treasurer has on file. After confirming it with a code, they see their own balance and payments — and nobody else’s.
Private by design
The treasurer’s ledger is only visible to that association’s treasurers. Owners see only their own records, and the association’s public page shows only what the treasurer chooses to publish. Passwords are stored only as hashes.
